Washingpool
Farm is a wildlife haven, especially in the habitat surrounding
the ponds and stream, which run through the farm. Essentially
the farm is a market garden, growing vegetables, potatoes, soft
fruit and salad crops for sale in the shop. Animals provide Pork,
Beef and Eggs, also sold through the shop and restaurant.
The farm walk takes you from the farm shop to three ponds, where
you are likely to see ducks, moorhens, coots, herons, swans, geese,
buzzards and kingfisher depending on the time of year. In the
summer there are hundreds of dragon- and damselflies, butterflies
as well as water insects, fish, tadpoles and frogs. Deer, rabbits,
foxes and badgers all live on the farm - they are welcome as long
as they stay off the crops and away from the chickens!
